A museum of bell ringing will be established at the Trinity-Sergius Lavratranslated

With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, a Museum of Bell Ringing will be created at the Holy Trinity-St Sergius Lavra.

The exposition will be displayed on the first floor of the bell tower, where a temporary exhibition dedicated to the bell heritage of the monastery is currently held, reports the Lavra website.

It is planned that the museum will acquaint visitors with the multi-century history of bell ringing in the Trinity-Sergius Lavra and reveal its liturgical and cultural significance.

"Visitors will find answers to questions about how new bells are cast and what old, now lost samples looked like, which once sounded in the monastery. At the museum's own ringing platform, they will be shown various techniques of bell ringing, learn about famous bell founders and benefactors of the Lavra," as stated in the announcement.

The main exhibit of the museum will be the operating bell tower within the Lavra – from it, visitors will begin their tour of the entire exposition.

Among other exhibits, the museum will feature ancient bells that have "survived many tragic episodes of Russian history," fragments of bells damaged during the Soviet era, including a piece from the Tsar Bell thrown off its tower, and much more.

Sounds like a solid plan. I like that they'll start the tour right from the working bell tower itself and show both the old bells that survived tough times and pieces of the ones that didn't, like that fragment of the Tsar-bell. Will they let visitors try ringing any of the smaller ones during the tour?

I love that the museum will start right from the bell tower that still works, and that they will also show the part of the Tsar-bell that was thrown down. I hope they also have some small bells for visitors to try for themselves, as Paul asked. This would make the story more vivid.
