Mono Monastery construction project advances: Topographical survey completed

July 15, 2026 · 1 min read

The Monastery of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Mono, Ontario, Canada, took another step forward on Tuesday towards the construction of its church, refectory, and monastic cells, as the topographical survey of the building site was completed.

“We are now entering a new phase of this project, which, with God’s help and the blessing of His Grace Bishop Ioan Casian of Canada, will continue in the months ahead,” said Fr Protosyncellus Polycarp Athenagoras, the monastery’s abbot.

“We humbly ask you to keep this work in your prayers and, if you are able, to support it with a sacrificial gift—large or small, according to your means—so that this monastery may be built for the glory of God and for the spiritual benefit of future generations.”

The abbot expressed his gratitude to all the pilgrims, benefactors and volunteers who continue to support the monastic community.

The monastery’s second patron saint is St Ephraim the New. The monastery is located at 308328 Hockley Rd., Mono, Orangeville, Ontario L9W 6N4, Canada.

I'm glad the surveying is complete. Father Polycarp is a very practical man, I see. I will keep this in mind for prayer, and if I find a way I will send a little something.

I'm glad they finished that topography, it's a practical step forward. Father Polycarp really takes care of everything step by step. I will keep you in my prayers, and maybe I will send a small contribution when I collect.

I agree, Ljubica, that topographic survey is exactly what you need so that you don't have to worry about permits later. Father Polycarp is really going in order, I see that he mentioned earlier that he is waiting for this very step. If you send a contribution, it will be from the heart - thank you in advance.
