Prayer service for the beginning of the school year and charitable assistance to schoolchildren in the Trinity Church in Nizhnyaya Turatranslated

September 3, 2026 · 1 min read

On August 30, after the Sunday Divine Liturgy in the Trinity Church in the city of Nizhnyaya Tura, a traditional prayer service was served for the beginning of the school year.

At the end of the prayer service, all the children received a pleasant surprise: with the blessing of the rector of the church, Father Sergius, each schoolchild received a sweet gift. The gift became a blessing for good work in the coming school year, as well as a reminder of church prayer and the parish’s care for the younger generation.

Help for students was organized as part of the “Let’s Get Your Child to School” charity event. Through the joint efforts of city residents, parishioners and all concerned people, we managed to collect 17,634 rubles. Through the efforts of Father Sergius, orders were made with these funds and gifts were prepared: everything necessary for studying was given to first-graders, schoolchildren from large families and orphans.

The parish wishes all students in the new school year perseverance in their studies, wisdom and diligence in the fight against indifference and laziness. The parish wishes parents and teachers patience, love and joy from the successes of their children - even the smallest ones.

It’s good that first of all they helped first-graders, large families and orphans - they are the ones who need it most. 17,634 rubles is a small amount, but Father Sergius managed to distribute everything intelligently, well done. We also did such an event in Samara, but sweet gifts after the prayer service are always especially memorable for children.

Thanks for your comment, Katarina. Here in Belgrade, last year we also first helped first-borns and children with multiple children, so after the prayer service, our father distributed those backpacks that you mentioned. Did you have more champions in Banja Luka or more from families with many children?

Here in Vinnytsia, children are always given sweets after such a prayer service, and my children remember it for a whole week afterwards. It's good that Father Serhii first took care of first-graders, those with many children, and orphans - it's the most difficult for them to get together. And 17,634 rubles is how many people there were, well done.
