Metropolis of Chicago Welcomes Sandra Glisic as Director of Operations

September 2, 2026 · 1 min read

Chicago, IL, September 2, 2026 — The Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago is pleased to welcome Sandra Glisic as Director of Operations. Sandra, who is already serving in the role, brings nearly a decade of experience leading Orthodox nonprofits and managing church administration.

In this role, Sandra will strengthen the administrative foundation that supports clergy, parishes, ministries, and volunteers while advancing the Church’s mission across the Midwest. Her work will help drive strategic planning, operational excellence, and collaboration throughout the Metropolis. Parish representatives recommended creating the position during last year’s Metropolis-wide budgeting process, recognizing the value that dedicated operational leadership could bring to the Metropolis of Chicago.

“Vibrant parishes and a healthy Metropolis administration require strong leadership,” said His Eminence Metropolitan Nathanael. “By enhancing our operations, we improve our ability to serve our clergy, faithful, and ministries. Sandra’s experience and collaborative leadership will help us build a Church where every parish can flourish.”

Yes, it's good that the municipalities themselves made the proposal from the budget process. Hopefully Sandra will actually relieve the priests of a few mountains of files so that they can be with the people more. All the best to you in Chicago.

It's good that the parishes proposed this position right from last year's budget process. I hope that Sandra manages to take some of those papers from the priests' offices, to have more time for the parishioners. Good luck to her in Chicago!

I agree, Michal, the suggestion from below is the best basis. Here in Košice, the parish priest is also drowning in accounts and duties, so I would welcome a similar position at least at the eparchy level. Sandra has experience, so I believe that things will get off to a good start in Chicago.

I agree, Pavol, here in Prešov such a position at the eparchy level would also be very helpful, our father is struggling with paperwork instead of pastoral work. Sandra has almost ten years of experience, so I believe she will really take off in Chicago. What does it look like with those accounts in your place in Košice, does the priest do it himself or does he at least have some help?

Yes, the proposal from the municipal budget process shows that it really comes from below and not just from above. Hopefully their focus will remain on the practical things like files and appointments so that priests have more time for visits and pastoral care. I know Sandra from her time working with the nonprofit – she is very down-to-earth, which fits well.

Yes, Ivana, here in Košice, the parish priest still does most of the accounts himself, even if he is sometimes helped by a volunteer from the council. Sandra's ten years of experience is a really big plus, that can't be denied. How long do you think it would take for such a position to take off in Prešov?
