Condolence message of Patriarch Daniel: Father Serafim Mihali loved and served the Church with great zealtranslated

July 19, 2026 · 1 min read

Blessed Father Daniel, the Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, sent a condolence message on Sunday that was read at the funeral service of Proto-Singel Seraphim Mihali, held at the Church Monasteries in Neamț County.

"Father Serafim Mihali took over the abbotship of the Bisericani Monastery at a time when the old voivodeship hearth still bore the deep wounds of degradation and step-history. With the patience of a true monk, his holiness proved to be a tireless founder, on par with the great forerunners of this place."

The Patriarch of Romania mentioned the social-philanthropic activity, especially the care of patients hospitalized at the Bisericani Pneumophthisiology Hospital: "Years in a row, with time and without time, Father Seraphim divided his liturgical service between the two Altars, the Altar of the voivodeship church in the hospital and the Altar of the monastery church".

"Father Serafim Mihali loved and served the Church with great zeal, he loved prayer, services and church singing which he mastered with great skill, being gifted with a special voice", His Beatitude conveyed.

May God rest his soul. I read how he served for years both in the hospital and in the monastery, that was rarely seen. May his memory be eternal.

May God forgive him and accept him into the kingdom of heaven. You are absolutely right, it is rare to see someone serve for so many years both in a hospital and in a monastery without a break. May his memory be eternal.

Yes, that's right, you rarely see such persistence. I remember when I went to Bisericani, you could see his efforts both in the church and among the sick, all without fanfare. May his memory be eternal.

Yes, I agree, that persistence without fanfare was immediately noticeable. When I was there last year at the feast, I saw him go straight to the hospital after the liturgy to visit the sick, without any crowd. May his memory be eternal and may his land rest in peace.
