St. Nana, Queen of Georgia – October 1
Saint Nana was the wife of King Mirian of Georgia, also canonized on the same day. The two ruled in the 4th century the Kingdom of Iberia, located in present-day eastern Georgia. During their reign, both they and the people were converted to Christianity following the preaching of the Gospel by Saint Nina.
Queen Nana was originally from Pontus and became a Christian before her husband after being miraculously healed by Saint Nina.
King Mirian was originally from Iran and practiced Zoroastrianism. While hunting, he suddenly went blind, but through the prayers of Saint Nina, he regained his sight. He believed in Christ, was baptized and became the first king...
