The Ecumenical Patriarchate announces the new composition of the Holy Synodtranslated

The Ecumenical Patriarchate proceeded with the ordinary reconstitution of the Holy Synod, under the terms of an official communiqué published on September 1, 2026. The new composition of the Synod will sit for one semester, from September 1, 2026 to February 28, 2027, under the presidency of His Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. The following hierarchs will sit at the Holy Synod: Metropolitan Joseph of ProikonneseMetropolitan Meliton of PhiladelphiaMetropolitan Seraphim of SebasteMetropolitan Irenaeus

Интересно, че са включили митрополит Ириней, за него не бях чувала скоро. Надявам се новият състав да работи спокойно през тези шест месеца до февруари.

It is interesting that they included Metropolitan Irinej, just as Marijana says. I haven't followed him in recent years, so I'm glad he's reappearing in the Synod. I hope he will work peacefully until February, without major problems.

I see Metropolitan Irenaeus is back in the mix too. Haven't heard much about him lately, so it'll be interesting to follow what he brings to the sessions between now and February. Hope the whole group can keep things steady.

Very interesting that they have re-introduced Metropolitan Irina. I hadn't heard of it recently, as others have said. I hope they work smoothly these six months until February, without major problems.

Yeah, Irenaeus turning up again caught my eye too. Last I heard he was pretty quiet after that Crete follow-up stuff a few years back. Wonder if he'll push for any practical changes on the diaspora parishes or just keep the usual steady line.
