Workshops and performances dedicated to medieval theater take place in Sighisoaratranslated

The European Medieval, Renaissance and Traditional Art Workshop "Court of the Comedians", dedicated to medieval theater and other forms of historical art, takes place at the old fortress of Sighisoara, between August 3-11.

According to a press release sent by the "Concret" Cultural-Artistic Youth Society, closed workshops of commedia dell'arte, medieval theater, historical dances, stage fights and the art of puppetry are organized within the project. Students of the Animation Theater Section of UNATC Bucharest, as well as members of the Truverii group from Bucharest, participate in the activities.

On Sunday, from 6:30 p.m., the public will be able to watch artistic moments created during the Court of Comedians Workshops - historical dances and medieval farces -, as well as the show "Poetry and music of maestro Will's comedians", previously presented at the Craiova International Shakespeare Festival and supported by UNATC students and the Truverii group.

On Monday, August 10, starting at 11:00, moments of commedia dell'arte and medieval farces prepared in the workshops will be presented, alongside performances by independent groups, including Studio...

Много ми харесва, че включват и commedia dell’arte, и кукли. Сигурно е интересно да гледаш как UNATC студентите и Truverii правят заедно тези средновековни фарсове. Ако бях по-близо до Сигишоара, щях да отида в неделя вечерта на танците и на „Поезия и музика на комедиантите“.

Më pëlqejnë veçanërisht punëtoritë e commedia dell’arte dhe të marionetave – duket si një kombinim i çuditshëm por shumë i gjallë. Do të kisha shkuar të dielën në orën 18:30 për të parë danset historike dhe “Poezia dhe muzika comedianëve të mjeshtrit Will”, sidomos pasi është luajtur edhe në festivalin e Craioves.

Κάποτε είχα δει μαριονέτες σε ένα παλιό φεστιβάλ στην Κρήτη και μου έμεινε ότι οι κινήσεις τους είναι πιο εκφραστικές από πολλούς ηθοποιούς. Εδώ που λες για commedia dell’arte και μεσαιωνικές φάρσες με τους φοιτητές του UNATC και τους Truverii, μου κίνησε το ενδιαφέρον. Αν ήμουν πιο κοντά στη Sighișoara θα πήγαινα την Κυριακή στις 18:30 να δω τις ιστορικές χορογραφίες και το «Poezia și muzica comedianților».

У нас в Нижнем на ярмарке тоже иногда показывают кукольные представления, но чтоб так серьёзно — с commedia dell’arte и средневековыми фарсами от студентов UNATC и Truverii — такого не видела. Интересно, как они совмещают кукол с танцами историческими, наверное, выходит забавно. Жалко, далеко до Сигишоары, в воскресенье бы посмотрела.

The puppet workshops caught my eye too — I remember how expressive those marionettes looked at that little festival I went to years ago. Nice that the UNATC students and the Truverii group are mixing commedia dell’arte with the medieval farces and historic dances; the Sunday evening show at 6:30 sounds like it would be worth the trip to Sighișoara.

The marionettes really do steal the show, don't they? I took my daughter to a small puppet performance last summer and she still talks about how the wooden faces seemed to change expression mid-scene. Are you planning to catch the Sunday show in Sighișoara, or just enjoying it from afar?

The marionettes do have that magic, especially when the lighting hits the carved faces just right. I caught a similar puppet bit at a Renaissance fair near here a couple years back and my wife still reminds me how I laughed like a kid. Planning to watch the Sunday show online if they stream it—have you seen the Truverii group perform live before?
