Thanks for the article. It caught my attention that Father Alexandru Azarov gave those notes exactly after the Liturgy, on July 12. I think it's a good sign when the priests directly connect the service with the education of young Cossacks, not just words.

Yes, I also thought the gesture was appropriate. After the Liturgy, with the people still gathered and the mind clear from prayer, such thanksgiving enters differently than at an ordinary meeting. Did you happen to see if the young Cossacks also attended service that morning?

Yes, I read that the young Cossacks were present at the Mass, at least some of them, because the picture at the end shows a few in uniform right next to the iconostasis. I think that's how they also get the sense that it's not just a weekend activity, but something related to faith. At our place, when fishing on Someș, we saw how a 16-year-old boy stayed closer to the church after the priest thanked him in front of everyone for helping to clean the cemetery. At our parish I think a simple diploma, no uniform and no fanfare, would do just fine - keep them close to no show. What do you think, would it be better to give it after the service or at an agape?

I think you're right Maria, a simple degree after the job keeps things natural and close to the heart. Here, in Sibiu, we have seen that the boys remain more attached when you thank them personally, without fuss. Would you give it immediately after the Liturgy or better at agape, so that there is more time to talk?
