The following note appeared on the pages of the online publication of the Union of Orthodox Journalists of America: “The Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville (New York), on the day of the celebration of the Nativity of the Prophet, Forerunner and Baptist of the Lord John, with special joy congratulated the graduate of the Holy Trinity Theological Seminary, His Eminence Gabriel, Archbishop of Montreal and Canada, on his 30th anniversary Bishop's consecration.

On the very day of the holiday, Archbishop Gabriel arrived at the monastery to celebrate this date together with the monastery brethren and pilgrims. The long-standing connection with the monastery and seminary of the Holy Trinity continued. For many years, Archbishop Gabriel often visited and continues to visit the Holy Trinity Monastery and supports its educational activities. At the festive services, Archbishop Gabriel was concelebrated with the rector of the Holy Trinity Monastery, His Grace Bishop Luke.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence Luke presented Archbishop Gabriel with the archpastoral staff, wishing him further help and intercession of John the Baptist of the Lord in his episcopal service.

What a nice connection back to Jordanville after all these years. I remember Archbishop Gabriel visiting the monastery when our son was still in the seminary there in the early 2000s. Glad Bishop Luke gave him that staff — may St. John the Baptist keep helping him.

Thanks for this update. It is good that Archbishop Gabriel still remembers Jordanville and the seminary where he studied. Mr. Luke dropped a good gift — this rod, and John the Baptist really needs it in his service.

It's good to hear Archbishop Gabriel still makes the trip back to Jordanville after all this time. My daughter and I visited the monastery last summer and the place just feels like home. That staff from Bishop Luke was a thoughtful gift — St. John the Baptist really has been with him through thirty years of service.

It's nice to see the connection to Jordanville still sticking around. I remember our husband talking about how Archbishop Gabriel has been going there regularly for decades and still supports the seminary. That statue from Bishop Luka is a nice gift, may Saint John the Baptist really help him.

It’s nice to see him keep that connection strong after all these years. I remember him serving at Jordanville back when I first started visiting in the late 90s; the place does have that pull. Did your daughter get to hear the choir while you were there last summer?

Yes, that connection runs deep. I was at Jordanville last summer too and the choir sounded especially strong during the feast. Did you ever sing with them yourself back in the 90s?
