I didn't know the cathedral in Varna was already 140 years old. The stamp exhibition sounds like a nice quiet way to look through its whole history – I hope they included some of the old postcards of the building itself.

I didn't realize the Assumption Cathedral in Varna was that old either. The stamp exhibition idea is clever – stamps and old postcards together would give a real sense of how the building looked when it was new. I wonder if they have any from the early 1900s.

Δεν το ήξερα κι εγώ ότι είναι τόσο παλιά, Δήμητρα. Τα γραμματόσημα από τις αρχές του 1900 που λες δείχνουν και το παλιό λιμάνι της Βάρνας από κοντά, είναι ωραία που τα έχουν βάλει μαζί με τις καρτ ποστάλ. Αν πας, πες μας μετά πώς σου φάνηκαν από κοντά.

I didn't know the cathedral went back that far either. The early 1900s postcards would be fascinating – I have one from 1912 showing the square in front with horse-drawn carriages that makes the whole place look so different. Have you seen any of the stamps from the Bulgarian post in that period?

I didn't know either that he is 140 years old, Dimitra. The stamps from the early 1900's you mention are indeed the most interesting, they also show the old houses around the church. If you go, pay attention to the small details in the margins of the postcards, they also have dates written in ink. I will go soon too.
