The Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States has appointed Sunday, July 26, 2026, as Prison Ministry Awareness Sunday, with hundreds of parishes across the jurisdictions joining to speak about ministry to those in prison. Orthodox Christian Prison Ministry, now nearing three decades of work, reunites incarcerated parents with their children through its Storybook Connections program, which sends picture books home together with recordings of a parent reading them, and its Clergy Corps fosters a nationwide brotherhood of priests and deacons committed to visiting prison facilities near them.
