The Day of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul was celebrated in Eucharistic communion and apostolic simplicity in Oshmyanytranslated

July 13, 2026 · 1 min read

The holy apostles Peter and Paul to this day carry their gospel through the centuries, reaching human souls with their inspired messages and the power of Christ abiding in them. On the day of remembrance of the supreme apostles, the hearts of the parishioners of the Oshmyany Church of the Resurrection were filled with that special joy and reverence that are bestowed upon believers only in moments of the intense presence of the Holy Spirit during general conciliar worship.

On July 12, the Divine Liturgy in the church was led by Priest Sergius Miguel, co-served by Deacon Andrei Bogorodchenko. In his post-liturgical sermon, Father Sergius reminded those gathered about the great educational work of the apostles and about the boundless love of God that is poured out on each of us, including through the prayerful intercession of Saints Peter and Paul.

Spiritual joy continued outside the church. The sisters of the local Varvara Sisterhood, having received the Holy Mysteries of Christ, gathered for a festive agape in the refectory of the spiritual and educational center. The table was decorated with special symbolism: wildflowers and rough linen fabric were reminiscent of the apostolic simplicity and unpretentiousness to which Peter and Paul called their disciples.

Glory to God! I really liked how they set the table with wildflowers and rough linen - exactly the simplicity that the apostles call us to. Father Serghie's sermon about God's love through their prayers made me think how often we forget to ask them for help in our daily lives.
