Care for Creation is a theological question

The document “Caring for Our Common Home” calls for a “responsible and fraternal response to the Triune God”. The ecological question is a theological question: the way we care for Creation reveals and shapes our relationship with God. The deterioration of the environment is alarming and urgent action is needed to ensure the sustainability of the planet. Everything is connected: we must listen to the cry of the Earth and the cry of the poor.

Áno, máte pravdu, že všetko je prepojené. Keď som minulý rok videla, ako nám sused vybetónoval pol záhrady, hneď som si pomyslela, že to nie je len o vode a vtákoch, ale aj o tom, ako sa správame k tomu, čo nám Boh dal. Potrebujeme začať od maličkostí, nie len čakať na veľké zmeny.

Згоден, що все пов’язане. Ось торік на нашій вулиці в Львові один чоловік вирубав три старі груші, щоб поставити паркан і залити бетонну площадку під авто. Птахи зникли, а влітку земля так спеклася, що навіть трава не росла. Мабуть, справді починається з того, як ми ставимося до того, що Бог нам дав.

Yeah, that bit about everything being connected hits home. Last summer I was delivering near the lakefront and saw a bunch of new condos replace a whole strip of trees and grass—now the runoff just pours straight into the water after rain. Starting with the little stuff like not paving over every yard makes sense, like Lenka said. What do you guys actually do in your own neighborhoods?
