On September 6, 2026, on the 14th Sunday after Pentecost, in the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Brest, another meeting was held with the wards of the Brest regional organization of the public association “Belarusian Society of the Deaf.” People with hearing impairments prayed during the Divine Liturgy and had the opportunity to partake of the joy of the festive service. The translation of the Liturgy into sign language was carried out by R.V. Pavlovich. The synchronization of liturgical texts and gospel readings was prepared by Sunday religious school teacher A.V. Okalo. Those who wished to began the sacraments of Confession and Communion of the Holy Mysteries of Christ. The cathedral cleric, Priest Leonid Simonchik, held a spiritual conversation with deaf parishioners, during which he spoke about the upcoming feast of the Beheading of the Prophet, Forerunner and Baptist of the Lord John and answered questions from those present.

Thanks for sharing this. It's great they had a sign language interpreter for the whole Liturgy and that Father Leonid took time to talk about the Beheading of John the Baptist afterward. My daughter’s kindergarten teacher uses some basic signs with the class — nice to see it done so thoughtfully in church too.
