Bishop of Chifeng ordained in China

Appointed by the Pope on 15 June after his candidacy was approved under the terms of the Provisional Agreement between the Holy See and the People's Republic of China, Bishop Joseph Chang Yanfeng had served in various roles within the diocese and, since 2021, as its diocesan administrator.

Timothy ParkerGood to see a new bishop finally in place for Chifeng after all these years. Joseph Chang Yanfeng has been around the diocese a long time; makes sense they'd pick the guy who's already been running things since 2021. Praying it brings some stability there.

Matthew ScottYeah, he's been the steady hand there since 2021, so it does feel like a practical choice. Hope the stability holds and the diocese can get back to some normal parish life. You think this Provisional Agreement will keep producing bishops at a better pace now?
