July 13, 2026 · 1 min read

On July 12, in the library of the Church of the Nativity of Christ in Zvenigorod, the Non-State Center for Free Legal Assistance “Law and Mercy” organized a free reception for citizens as part of the All-Russian Week of Legal Assistance on Protecting Family Interests. The event was attended by the cleric of the Church of the Nativity of Christ in Zvenigorod, priest Vadim Kurov.

All-Russian Legal Aid Week is a large-scale project implemented by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation. The coordinators of its implementation are the Russian Ministry of Justice and its territorial bodies.

The action is timed to celebrate the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity, which is celebrated on the day of remembrance of the holy noble princes Peter and Fevronia of Murom - the heavenly patrons of family and marriage.

The main goal of the project is to create conditions under which families can receive qualified legal assistance, learn about their rights and government support measures, and also increase the level of legal literacy. Particular attention within the framework of the campaign is paid to large and low-income families, single parents, families raising disabled children, orphans and children without parental care, their legal representatives,…

Thank you for telling me. It's good that Father Vadim was at the reception - people often don't know where to go with papers for a large family or a disabled child. In Poltava, we also sometimes conduct such consultations, but rarely.

Good thing they did it just before the day of Saints Peter and Fevronia. Here in Sibiu, we have not seen something like this organized at the church, but I think it would help a lot mothers with several children who get lost with the papers from the state. Thank you for writing about Father Vadim.

It's good that they did this in connection with the day of Saints Peter and Fevronia. Here in Cluj, at the parish, mothers with several children get lost all the time with state papers, especially when it comes to allowances or certificates for the disabled child. It would be useful to organize such a day with a lawyer, maybe ask our parent.

Well said, Viorica, just before the day of Saints Peter and Fevronia is the right time. Here in Chisinau, we once saw such a free consultation at a parish and the mothers with three or four children were really happy that he clarified their documents for allowances. Do you think that something similar could be organized in Sibiu through the Archdiocese?

Well said, Daniela, in Cluj there are certainly many mothers who struggle with those papers from allowances and certificates. Maybe you can ask your parent if he would like to call a lawyer at least once a month after the service, because in our parish we have seen that people come more easily after vespers. Do you think dads would come too or just moms?

Yes, Radu, the idea of the deanery is good, especially since in Sibiu there are many families with many children who struggle with the paperwork for allowances and benefits. Here in Iași, we heard that a priest brought a lawyer once a month after the service and people came by the dozens. Do you think they would catch on if we asked Father Vădim to give us their contact from "Zakon i miloserdie"?

Yes, Simona, you are right, in Cluj many mothers struggle with those allowance papers and medical certificates. In our parish, the father could try once a month after the service, but I think fathers would also come, especially if it is about alimony or documents for the house. Did you see how many fathers showed up last time?

Yes, Constantin, you are right about the fathers - in our parish, last time at the meeting with the lawyer, three fathers came to ask exactly about alimony and documents for the house. I think once a month after service would work, but it would have to be announced ahead of time from the pulpit. In Cluj I saw that the mothers still come more often, but the fathers appear when it is clear that he is looking directly at them. Do you think Saturday would be better?
