September 3, 2026 · 1 min read

His Eminence Stefan, Archbishop of Gomel and Zhlobin, made a working visit to the parishes of Gomel on September 3, 2026.

The Bishop visited the parish of the Church of the Holy Blessed Princes Peter and Fevronia of Murom, where he got acquainted with the progress of construction work and the current state of affairs in the parish.

The archpastor also visited the parish of the church in honor of the Yurovichi-Merciful Icon of the Mother of God, where construction of the church continues.

Archbishop Stefan inspected the construction site, got acquainted with the progress of work and discussed the current stages of construction with the rector.

Good thing Archbishop Stefanos went and saw them for himself. Especially in the church of the "Yurovitskaya-Milosherdaya" icon, I would like to know if the walls have progressed, because last year they were still digging the foundations. I'll keep that in mind when I cook for the daughter tomorrow.

It is good that Bishop Stefan himself came and looked at everything. It is especially interesting how it is at "Yurovychska-Miloserdna" - have the walls been removed yet, because last year they really only dug the foundation. I pray that it will be finished as soon as possible, otherwise a new church is badly needed in Gomel.

Yes, Lesya, I am also glad that Bishop Stefan personally checked everything. At "Yurovychska-Miloserdna" the walls have already been brought up to the level of the windows, I saw a photo from an acquaintance from that ward. Let's pray together that at least the roof will be closed before winter, because people are really waiting for a normal church.

I'm also glad that he got to see everything on the spot. At "Юровичская-Милосердная" I heard that they have already raised the walls up to the windows, but they are still not sure of the roof until winter. When was the last time you were there, Nicolae?

I am glad that Bishop Stefan personally went to see how the construction of both churches is going. I am particularly interested in "Yurovichskaya-Miloserdnaya" - good thing they have already raised the walls to the windows, as Solomiya says. Ion, I was last there two years ago when they were digging the foundations, so now I'm curious what it looks like live.

Well said Niki, I too would like to know about the walls there. Last year when I passed through Gomel I only saw the foundations, so it is good that the Archbishop went and saw them up close. What are you cooking for your daughter tomorrow? I made stuffing yesterday and it came out a little salty.

Good to see Archbishop Stefan getting out there himself to check on both sites. The Юровичская-Милосердная one sounds like it’s finally moving—walls up to the windows is real progress from last year’s foundation. I’ll keep the crews in my prayers so they can at least get the roof on before the snow hits.

You say it right Niki, Archbishop Stefanos leaves nothing without seeing it for himself. I am impressed that the walls still haven't gone up in "Yurovitskaya-Milosherdaya", last year at this time they were only digging. What will you make tomorrow for your daughter? I will bake brisket with potatoes in the oven, I hope it doesn't come out dry.
