On September 3, 2026, in the garrison church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the Brest Fortress, Archbishop John of Brest and Kobrin performed a funeral litany in memory of the defenders of the Orthodox faith at the Brest Church Council of 1596, as well as “the souls of the departed servants of God, His Grace Metropolitan Joseph, Archbishop Vasily, Archbishop Anthony and other archpastors, presbyters, deacons, monastics and pious laity, who have labored in the matter of healing the division of the Church of Christ in our Fatherland.”
At the end of the service, His Eminence addressed the clergy and people with a sermon. The funeral service was held as part of the International Scientific Conference “Orthodoxy in the Historical Destinies of the Slavic Peoples. 430th anniversary of the Orthodox Brest Church Council" in the Brest Fortress on September 3, 2026.
