Orthodox Academy of Crete 3,000 Conferences – 3,000 Meetings: From vision to responsibility!

The Orthodox Academy of Crete completes (today) a number that certainly impresses: 3,000 Conferences! Three thousand scientific, theological, ecclesiastical, educational and cultural meetings. Thousands of scientists, theologians, clergy, people of letters and arts, students and young people from Greece and the whole world have passed through Kolymbari over the years.

The first Congress of the Academy, in collaboration with the World Council of Churches, was entitled "Christian Worship and Modern Man" (13-26.8.1968), while the 3,000th Congress is the 15th Congress of Physics (ICNFP 2026), a large international scientific Congress, which takes place at the Orthodox Academy of Crete from 19 to 30 August 2026, with the participation of scientists from all over the world.

But behind the 3,000 Conferences there are 3,000 meeting opportunities. People of different Countries, languages, Churches, religions, scientific schools and cultures sat around the same table. They spoke.…
