Saint Samson l'hospitalier caught my attention today. A doctor who cared for the sick without payment, in Constantinople, 1500 years ago - as if he would be a good example of what we do at the parish with help for the elderly. Is there still a life of his translated into Romanian?

Yes, the life of Saint Samson is worth reading. In our Sunday school a couple of years ago, one woman told how he turned his house into a hospital and treated him for free. There is probably a translation into Romanian in old editions, and there will definitely be a translation in Russian in the Lives of the Saints for July.

Saint Samson is really similar to what we try at the parish with the elderly - he comes home, gives them a helping hand without asking for anything. Yes, Saint Samson as a doctor who turned his house into a hospital and did everything for free reminds me a lot of our visits to the old people in the community. Last year we handed out packages with the church choir and just listened - just like that, without asking for a cent.
