Romanian Patriarch Daniel told clergy at a recent conference that husbands and wives should share childcare and household duties equally, reminding priests that family life must not suffer because of parish demands. In the same week the Bulgarian Orthodox Church held festive concerts for the Entry of the Theotokos across the Sofia diocese, while the Orthodox Church in America released a formal statement opposing assisted suicide and euthanasia. From Constantinople came news that the Athens Medical Group is offering free medical care to Greeks on Imbros and Tenedos, and the Serbian Orthodox Church lost longtime priest Archpriest-Stavrophor Vojislav Bilbija. These reports show steady pastoral and diaconal work continuing in different corners of the Church. May readers hold the Romanian, Bulgarian, American, and Serbian communities in prayer.
Patriarch Daniil of Bulgaria visited first-graders in Pernik this week, speaking directly to the children about personal responsibility and the importance of growing in faith from an early age. In the same Church, the Sofia diocese held festive concerts for the Entry of the Theotokos, drawing families together in song and prayer. The Serbian Patriarch encouraged voluntary blood donation among the faithful, framing it as a simple act of love for neighbor. Meanwhile, the Orthodox Church in America’s Holy Synod released a clear statement opposing assisted suicide and euthanasia, reminding everyone of the Church’s unchanging teaching on the sanctity of life. In Romania, the Pan-Orthodox Conference in Corinth concluded with a strong call for discernment against occult practices that can quietly pull people away from Christ. These moments show bishops and whole dioceses quietly tending to the young, the sick, and the confused. May we remember the Bulgarian, Serbian, Romanian, and American Churches in our prayers today.
