The Romanian Orthodox Church has consecrated a new chapel in Ilfov dedicated to love as the path to salvation. The simple wooden structure now stands ready for regular services after the bishop poured holy chrism and led the first Divine Liturgy there.
At the same time the Ukrainian Orthodox Church marked the consecration of a lower church on the island of Corfu honoring the Kyiv-Pechersk Fathers, while the Moscow Patriarchate saw Metropolitan Longin consecrate another new church to the Life-Giving Trinity in the village of Kashinka. In London the Bulgarian Orthodox Church held Matins and Liturgy at St John of Rila, drawing both locals and visitors on an ordinary weekday.
These quiet openings continue across very different corners of the Orthodox world. Each one adds another place where people can simply come and pray.
The Ukrainian Orthodox Church consecrated the lower church in the Dnipropetrovsk diocese to the righteous Joachim and Anna. In the same region, the Mukachevo-Carpathian Eparchy of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine continues to stress its independence from Moscow.
Meanwhile, the Bulgarian Orthodox Church held its patriarchal Divine Liturgy for the fifth Sunday after the Exaltation of the Cross, and the Church of Greece celebrated Metheortos Vespers at Agios Dimitrios in Petropolis followed by the litany on Corfu.
From Romania, Archbishop Justinian Chira received special honors in his former diocese ten years after his repose. These quiet acts of consecration, teaching, and remembrance keep parishes steady across very different corners of the Orthodox world.
May the Lord strengthen the faithful in Dnipropetrovsk, Sofia, Athens, and Cluj.
