Yesterday at the mass of Saints Cosmas and Damian I saw my seven-year-old niece who was constantly distracted by her shoes and didn't even want to cross herself. I kept thinking about how to make him learn to pray without it seeming like a heavy obligation. Does anyone have any ideas that have worked with young children?

This Sunday at the liturgy, the passage on the Beatitudes really touched me, especially “Blessed are the merciful”. I thought about my neighbor who came by last night with a plate of soup because I was still coughing, without asking. After communion, I prayed for her by lighting a candle near the icon of the Mother of God. It’s crazy how it fits right into everyday life.

The Romanian Orthodox Church has formally proclaimed Constantine Sârbu a local saint, recognizing his steadfast witness during difficult years in the last century. At the same time the Serbian Orthodox Church marked the 25th anniversary of the consecration of St. Archangel Michael Parish with a festive liturgy attended by several bishops. In the Netherlands the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia celebrated its Pokrov altar feast at the parish in Arnhem, while the Polish Orthodox Church gathered for the Feast of the Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Radom. The Bulgarian Orthodox Church prepared for the historic arrival of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, and the Orthodox Church in America began its 2026 fall semester at both seminaries. These coordinated observances across jurisdictions show how each local Church keeps its own calendar and memory alive while remaining part of the same tradition. This matters because it quietly strengthens the shared Orthodox identity without erasing legitimate differences.
I was walking home from work, it was a little late, but still a warm evening. I passed the church, the door was open, candles were strewn inside. I will come to mass tomorrow, it is good to stop and sit for a while.

Serbian Bishop Tikhon opened the exhibition “Stone Flower from Prebilovice,” marking the memory of the 1941 massacre with photographs, artifacts and testimonies from the site. In parallel, the Romanian Orthodox Church saw Bishop Siluan of Hungary join a tribute to sculptor Constantin Brâncuși, while the Bulgarian Orthodox Church dedicated a new mobile blood donation unit near Sofia. The Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia reported that Holy Cross Monastery in West Virginia has begun raising funds for a new dormitory to house more monks. These separate initiatives show how local dioceses continue to care for both historical memory and practical needs of their communities. The work matters because it keeps faith visible in everyday places.
Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew arrives in Bulgaria tomorrow for what Bulgarian Church sources describe as a historic visit. The Bulgarian Orthodox Church is preparing to receive him with full honors while also marking the recent memorial service for the late Patriarch Neofit. At the same time, the Ecumenical Patriarchate celebrated the feast of Agios Loukas in Chania and held a hierarchical Divine Liturgy at St Nicholas Hermitage in Rättvik. In Georgia, the Patriarchate clarified that a recent service at Samtavro was conducted in Church Slavonic rather than Russian. Separately, the Serbian Orthodox Church saw Bishop Tikhon open an exhibition on the “Stone flower from Prebilovice,” and the Orthodox Church in America began its 2026 fall semester at its seminaries. This visit underscores the continuing ties that bind the local Orthodox Churches together.
Metropolitan Nikola of the Macedonian Orthodox Church met with Romeo Georgiev, president of the Jane Sandanski Macedonian cultural and artistic society, to discuss strengthening ties between church life and local heritage initiatives. In Romania the Lower Danube Archdiocese marked thirty years since the relics of Saint Andrew were brought to Galați, with services giving thanks for the apostle’s continuing protection. The Serbian Orthodox Church saw St. Archangel Michael parish in Poland celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of its church consecration with a festive liturgy attended by families from the Radom area. Meanwhile the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch reported steady growth across its archdiocese after fall meetings that highlighted new educational programs and youth outreach. These practical steps keep parishes connected to their people and their history. May the Lord grant wisdom and peace to the Macedonian, Romanian, Serbian, and Antiochian communities.

It’s difficult at work and due to the cramps of fasting, especially in poor times of fasting. Yesterday pak hapnah sandwich with kashkaval, zaschoto no other nyamashe fight. How do you live when you are in the office or in the office - do you have any ideas without any hassle or mess?

My grandson had a lesson about prayer at school this week, but at home he started acting up and saying that he didn’t want to pray before eating. I don’t want to force him, but it’s also a shame to leave him completely. How did you teach your children and grandchildren to pray so that everything would be good and without scandals?

Brazilian priests have rallied behind their bishop in the face of recent controversy, issuing public statements of support that underscore unity within the local diocese. The move comes amid questions over administrative decisions that some critics labeled as overly strict. Meanwhile, the Romanian Orthodox Church joined a major celebration marking 1,150 years since the birth of St John of Rila, with the Ecumenical Patriarch attending events that drew thousands. In the Serbian Orthodox Church, a delegation traveled to Georgia’s Bodbe monastery, strengthening ties between the two ancient Churches during a quiet visit focused on shared monastic heritage. The Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch marked the centennial of St George Church in Fishers, Indiana, with a consecration service that highlighted steady parish growth in the American Midwest. These cross-border connections show how local challenges often sit alongside broader efforts at preservation and fellowship. The Polish Orthodox Church observed the Feast of the Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Radom with traditional hymns and modest gatherings that reflected everyday piety.

Yesterday at the liturgy I especially remembered how the priest read about the prophet Hosea. I stood and thought that it happens in our family too - everything seems to collapse, and then the Lord quietly corrects everything, as happened with my husband last year. After the service, my daughter and I ran to the store for cottage cheese; in the evening we will make cheesecakes, as always on Sundays.

Last night at the choir rehearsal we sang again the troparies for Saints Cosmas and Damian, because today we commemorate them. I liked how the voice came out on "Saints without silver", it seemed to fit better than last time. I arrived home late, but I went to bed peacefully, tomorrow morning I will take the boy with me to work.

The Romanian Orthodox Church has proclaimed Constantine Sârbu a new local saint, recognizing his steadfast witness during difficult years in the last century. In the same week the Serbian Orthodox Church marked the 25th anniversary of the consecration of St. Archangel Michael Parish with a full program of services and fellowship. The Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem saw Patriarch Damianos press the government to release the full text of an agreement concerning the Sinai monasteries. Meanwhile the Orthodox Church in America began its 2026 fall semester at both seminaries, with new students settling into daily chapel rhythm and classes. These scattered corners of church life show the same ordinary pattern: saints remembered, parishes keeping their feasts, leaders tending practical matters, and young people beginning formation. Small, steady steps that hold the tradition together. May these communities and their faithful be remembered in prayer today.
Holy Cross Monastery in West Virginia has launched a fundraising drive to build a new dormitory. The Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia community there hopes the addition will ease overcrowding and let more men explore monastic life in the quiet hills. At the same time, the Romanian Orthodox Church’s Lower Danube Archdiocese marked thirty years since the relics of Saint Andrew the Apostle arrived in Galaţi, drawing large crowds for services and processions. In Indiana the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch consecrated and celebrated the centennial of St. George Church in Fishers with a full week of liturgies and gatherings. Meanwhile the Serbian Orthodox Church hosted a banquet in Ruti Hill to honor Patriarch Porfirio, underlining steady ties across dioceses. These practical steps show how each local church keeps finding ways to shelter faith, train clergy, and strengthen its people for the long haul.
