The Patriarchal Liturgy at St. John of Rila Monastery drew hundreds of faithful to the Bulgarian mountains this weekend. Bulgarian Patriarch Daniel presided, joined by clergy from several dioceses, while simple village families and city pilgrims prayed together under the clear autumn sky. In Greece, Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Manis spoke plainly about falling birth rates at the Peloponnese Forum, urging practical steps to support young families instead of endless meetings. From Romania, bishops gathered in Bucharest for a theology symposium that looked at the real pressures on Christian households today, from long work hours to raising children in faith. Meanwhile the Macedonian Orthodox Church saw Metropolitan Georgij visit the Vranish parish and its youth group, where he encouraged ordinary teenagers to keep coming to services and Bible study. The Bulgarian event felt like one more quiet reminder that the old monasteries still pull people back to the basics.
The model of this large church with its blue domes and golden crosses is very beautifully done. I saw it and loved it immediately.

The brickwork under the domes is spot on.

The crosses on those blue domes catch the light just right. Nice work on the roof tiles too.
G
Gabriela Stan
The model is well done, especially the golden crosses.
C
Constantin Marin
The model has a well-proportioned roof, you can clearly see how the tiles fit together.
The Pochaiv Icon of the Mother of God is being solemnly honored this week in parishes across Ukraine’s Vinnytsia diocese, with special services drawing families from surrounding villages to pray for healing and protection. In the same spirit of quiet devotion, the Macedonian Orthodox Church held Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Theotokos Perivleptos in Ohrid, where Metropolitan Georgi and youth workers spoke with local parishioners about Scripture. Meanwhile the Romanian Orthodox Church marked the memory of the Holy Hierarch Theophanes the Confessor and the Fathers of the Seventh Ecumenical Council with patriarchal Liturgy at the St. John of Rila Monastery in the Bulgarian Church. The Orthodox Church in America gathered clergy wives for reflection at its diocesan assembly in honor of St. Olga. Each of these moments shows the Mother of God quietly gathering her people in ordinary parishes and distant monasteries alike.

Today after the service a large crowd came out onto the street, confetti and decorations everywhere. The holiday turned out to be very lively.

I would have liked to see that picture with confetti everywhere after the service too. It looks cool.
The church is quiet and light. The ceiling is all painted, you look up - and it seems as if you can stand all the time.

Yes, these painted ceilings really catch the eye, we end up standing there without realizing it.

In the church in Bitola I also often look up, the frescoes on the ceiling are so detailed that you really stare.
M
Marius Matei
The painting on the ceiling looks quite old, you can see that they used natural colors that have preserved well over time.
The new church with its two golden domes and tall cross really stands out against the clear sky. I like how solid and peaceful it looks.

Tomáš Baláž
The cross stands out nicely against the sky, the whole thing seems really peaceful.

Yes, the cross is visible from afar. Is the church open to visitors during the week and when are services on Sundays?
Made a big batch of potato casserole this morning for the parish feast on Sunday. Added extra onions and a little dill the way my mother always did. Hoping it turns out as good as hers used to for the after-service lunch.

The church is quiet today. The pews are empty and the sanctuary quiet, as if waiting.

The photo clearly shows how the light falls on the brickwork near the altar. Because of this, the walls look warmer, although the church is really empty.

In our church on Petrovaradin, the walls are made of the same old bricks, so the light always falls similarly on them after the morning service.

Here in Poltava, after the morning service, this also often happens, especially in winter. In the photo, you can clearly see how the bricks near the altar absorb the light, our church has the same masonry from the 19th century.

Yes, you can clearly see how the light hits that old brick at the altar. It's very quiet.
Saint Teresa's Center. You can see the gate, sign and greenery around. Nice quiet place.

So, the gate is solid. But the church is in honor of Saint Teresa of Avila, I remember how at the service they talked about her “Interior Castle”.
M
Mark Parker
Yes, the gate looks secure. And the sign is clearly legible even from the road.
R
Radu Constantinescu
The building looks quite old, with thick stone walls and those tall windows typical of the 19th century.
Χ
Χρήστος Παππάς
The stone walls are really thick, as if they still keep the cool inside even in summer. And the high windows, like an old factory that turned it into a church.
Next work minah edge tsarkvata km 8 pm. The sun is frozen in the evening, and in the morning the light shines upon the open gate. I hid behind the malko, stopped this and continued to the kashchi, where the chakakha of my wives and malkata.

These red bricks look stronger when the weather is as cold as it is now. The cross above the dome in St. George Church in Tripoli is oval like this in winter.

Yes, red brick keeps its shape well even in the cold. Our parish also has such a wall near the altar, it is strong.

Danica Ristić
The red brick looks really nice next to that cross, it looks solid and calm.
Yesterday I made fast chickpeas in the oven with onion, garlic and a little puree. I let them cook well until soft and colored, they turned out very tasty with a little lemon on top. The kids ate them without complaint, I will definitely make them again.
