The Serbian Orthodox Cathedral of the Transfiguration in Zagreb marked its patronal feast with services that drew faithful from across the city despite ongoing legal pressure from a self-proclaimed Croatian Orthodox group seeking registration. Meanwhile the Romanian Orthodox Church organized Night of Village Museums events at over 165 rural sites in Romania and Moldova, letting families explore old churches and folk traditions after dark. In North America the Orthodox Church in America welcomed fourteen new seminarians for the coming academic year at its three seminaries, while the Bulgarian Orthodox Church’s St Ivan Rilski parish in Montreal put out a call for volunteers to help restore its aging building. Each diocese showed the feast of the Transfiguration lived out in its own setting, from grand liturgy to practical upkeep. How is your parish marking the end of the summer feasts this year?

From the Serbian Orthodox Church came news of a new deacon ordained in Vranje, strengthening parish life there. These ordinary moments of remembrance, gathering, and service show how the same paschal hope quietly shapes daily church rhythms across continents.

The white walls and blue domes look calm under the strong sun. I like this clear image, it shows a peace that lingers.

The white walls look pretty solid, must have taken some serious stonework back in the day to hold up those blue domes that long.

The thick stone walls definitely look like theyve lasted centuries. Is the place open to visitors every day or just during services?

The church with its characteristic domes looks calm and beautiful under the sky. It always calms me down when I see pictures like this.

Sunday morning was a bit crazy as always. I was getting the little girl dressed for catechism and she asked me if the Saint Andrew they will learn about today was the one who was beheaded or the one with the sword. We finally drove a little earlier to catch the bargain I had promised to drop off.
Anyway, I'm glad she asks such things, it shows that she cares.
