The wet slabs in the forecourt glisten calmly after the rain. I like that quietness that lingers afterwards.

This afternoon I spent an hour in the garden behind the church watering the rose bushes and removing weeds between the lavender plants. Fasting is always a chore at work. Today in the kitchen again I had to refuse to taste the sauce with the meat that they cooked for lunch, and instead I took only bread with tomatoes. How do you handle it when you have shifts and don't have time to cook at home? Tomorrow, my husband and I are going to mass at St. Fabián, so I would like to stay.

The light at the end of that country road pulls your eye straight to the church. Makes the whole place feel quiet and settled.
