The Orthodox Church of Ukraine marked the Honey Savior with processions and the blessing of honey, flowers and first fruits at Holy Trinity Church in Kremenchuk, where the feast was observed for the first time in the new parish building. At the same time, the Bulgarian Orthodox Church prepared for the feast of the Prophet Elijah with Matins and Divine Liturgy at St. John of Rila in London. The Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia announced that the Hawaiian myrrh-streaming icon has reached Bulgaria, drawing steady crowds for prayer. In Romania, Metropolitan Laurentiu reminded the faithful that genuine fasting must begin in the heart, tying the Dormition Fast that opened on August 1 to inner renewal. These local observances continue quietly across jurisdictions.
The Dormition Fast begins today in the Ecumenical Patriarchate, calling the faithful to a period of stricter prayer and fasting ahead of the feast of the Theotokos on August 15. In parallel, the Bulgarian Orthodox Church has announced festive services for the Transfiguration at St. Sophia in Chicago and at St. John of Rila in London, while Patriarch Daniel encouraged believers to deepen their trust in God’s grace. The Church of Greece marked two priestly ordinations, one at the pilgrim site of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Thessaloniki and another for the feast of Agios Timotheus in Nea Palatia. Meanwhile, the Orthodox Church in America wrapped up Camp Vatra Junior with a hierarchical Divine Liturgy and held a renewal gathering for clergy wives at Antiochian Village. May the fast bring quiet strength and renewed hope to every parish keeping it.

The Sviatohirsk Lavra looks really massive in that photo, the walls are really holding up.

Yes, those walls look durable.

The Sviato-Girsky Lavra is dedicated to the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The walls really look strong, I wonder how long they will last without serious intervention.

The photo shows the walls really well. Are morning services open to visitors year round and what time do they usually start?
