Bulgarian St. Sophia parish in Chicago is busy with preparations for the feast of the Unmade Image of Christ the Savior. Volunteers are cleaning the church, arranging flowers, and rehearsing the choir for the all-night vigil. Across the ocean, the Romanian Orthodox Church marked forty years since the repose of Patriarch Iustin Moisescu, recalling his work building up theological schools and libraries that still shape priests today. In Serbia the faithful continue to speak of the quiet beauty and steady monastic life at Osovica monastery, where pilgrims find simple rooms and long services that have changed little over the years. Meanwhile the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia wrapped up another year at its European Church Music School, with students returning home carrying new skills in chant and notation. The Orthodox Church in America released a fresh edition of the Akathist to Saint Olga of Alaska, printed through the Romanian Episcopate, giving more English-speaking parishes an accessible prayer resource for her feast.
