“The most soul-helping book on the unceasing communion of the Most Pure Mysteries of Christ” was first published in Venice in 1783. This is a joint composition of St. Macarius Notara and etc. Nicodemus of the Holy Mountain. The treatise played a key role in the so-called Kollivadian disputes, and also had a significant influence on the revival of spiritual life in Greece, including among the laity. The popularity of the book was facilitated by its small format, small volume, simple language, as well as an important topic for every Christian - the attitude towards the Divine Liturgy and Holy Communion. The essay reveals the teaching about the need for frequent communion of the Holy Mysteries of Christ: “So, my brothers, since rare Communion causes us such great and inexplicable troubles, and frequent Communion gives us such high, so great, so heavenly and supernatural benefits both in this life and in the future, why are we so slow to receive communion?” The book consists of 5 chapters. The first 3 chapters provide biblical and patristic evidence of the benefits and salvation of frequent Communion as a source of grace, cleansing, strengthening in faith and the fight against sin. Chapter 4 answers 13 common objections that were relevant in the 18th century and remain valid today.
