1) Paul, the Apostle - not from men and not through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised Him from the dead, 2) and all the brethren who are with me - to the churches of Galatia: 3) grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, 4) Who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father; 5) To whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. 6) I am surprised that you are so quickly turning away from the one who called you by the grace of Christ to another gospel, 7) which is not another, unless it is other [people] who have alarmed you and want to change the gospel of Christ. 8) But even if we or an angel from heaven preached the gospel contrary to what we preached to you, let him be anathema. 9) As we said before, [so] I say again now: if anyone preaches the gospel contrary to what you have accepted, let him be accursed. 10) But did I call on people or God? Do I try to please people? If I were still a people pleaser, I would not be a servant of Christ.
11) I make it known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached to me is not by human [inspiration], 12) for I neither received it from man nor learned it, but through the revelation of Jesus Christ. 13) For you have heard about my former way of life in Judaism, that I persecuted the Church of God beyond measure and devastated it, 14) and prospered in Judaism more than many peers in my generation, being an excessive zealot of my fatherly traditions. 15) When it became acceptable to Him who chose me from my mother’s womb and called me by His grace, 16) in order to reveal His Son in me, so that I might preach His gospel to the Gentiles, I did not immediately after this become attached to flesh and blood, 17) and did not go to Jerusalem to the Apostles who preceded me, but went to Arabia, and again returned to Damascus. 18) Then, three years later, I went to Jerusalem to see Peter, and stayed with him for fifteen days. 19) I saw no other apostles except James, the brother of the Lord. 20) In what I write to you, behold, before God: I do not lie. 21) Then I went to the countries of Syria and Cilicia.
22) I was unknown in person to the churches in Judea that were in Christ, 23) but they only listened to the rumor that he who once persecuted us is now preaching the faith that he once destroyed, 24) and glorified God in me.
1) Then, after fourteen years, I again went up to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus with me. 2) I ascended by revelation, and summed up with them the gospel that I preached to the pagans, and individually to those who represented something, so that I would not run or run in vain. 3) But they did not force Titus, who was with me, although a pagan, to be circumcised. 4) But because of the false brothers who crept in, who secretly came to find out about our freedom, which we have in Christ Jesus, in order to turn us into slavery. 5) To them we did not yield or submit even for an hour, so that the truth of the Gospel might remain with you. 6) And in those who represented something, whatever they may have ever been, there is nothing special for me: God is no respecter of persons; for for me the fact that they represented something does not add anything.
7) On the contrary, when they saw that I had been entrusted with the gospel for the uncircumcised, just as Peter had been entrusted with the gospel for the circumcision, 8) (for He who assisted Peter in the apostleship among the circumcision also aided me among the Gentiles), 9) and when they learned of the grace given to me, James, and Cephas, and John, venerated as pillars, gave me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship, that we might [go] to to the pagans, and to them - to the circumcision, 10) only so that we remember the poor, which I also tried to do, this is precisely. 11) When Cephas came to Antioch, I confronted him to his face, for he was not blameless. 12) For before some came from Jacob, he ate with the Gentiles; when they came, he hid and withdrew, fearing those who had been circumcised. 13) And the rest of the Jews agreed with his pretense, so that Barnabas was drawn into their pretense by them. 14) But when I saw that they were not directly acting on the truth of the Gospel, I said to Cephas in front of everyone: “If you, when you are a Jew, live like a pagan and not like a Jew, how then do you think of making the Gentiles Jews?
15) We are Jews by nature, and not sinners from the Gentiles; 16) having learned that a person is not justified by the works of the Law, but only through faith in Jesus Christ, and we believed in Christ Jesus in order to be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the Law; For this reason no flesh will be justified by the works of the Law. 17) If, seeking justification in Christ, we ourselves turned out to be “sinners,” is Christ really the servant of sin? It won't happen! 18) For if I build what I have destroyed again, I make myself a criminal. 19) For through the law I died to the law, that I might live by God. I have been crucified with Christ. 20) It is no longer I who live; Christ lives in me. And that I now live in the flesh, I live in the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. 21) I do not reject the grace of God; For if there is justification by law, then Christ died freely.”
1) Oh, foolish [insensati] Galatians! Who bewitched [fascinavit] you not to submit to the truth, [you], before whose eyes Jesus Christ was predestined, [as if] crucified among you? 2) I want to learn this one thing from you: did you receive the Spirit by works of the Law, or by hearing in faith? 3) Are you so stupid that when you began with the Spirit, you are now finishing with the flesh? 4) You have endured so much, [is it really] useless? If only it were useless! 5) He who gives you the Spirit and performs miracles among you, does he do this by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? 6) As it is written: “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness” (Gen. 15:6). 7) Know then that they who are of faith, they are the sons of Abraham. 8) Having foreseen the Scripture that God would justify the pagans through faith, it foreshadowed to Abraham: “For in you all nations will be blessed” (Gen. 12:3). 9) So, those who are blessed by faith will be with faithful Abraham. 10) For all who are of the works of the Law are under the curse. For it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all that is written in the book of the Law, to do it” (Deut. 27:26).
11) And that in the law no one is justified before God, this is clear: “For the righteous lives by faith” (Hab. 2:4). 12) But the law is not by faith, but: “Whoever does these things will live in them” (Lev. 18:5). 13) Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree” (Deut. 21:23), 14) so that the blessing of Abraham through Christ Jesus might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. 15) Brethren, (I speak humanly): even a will approved by a man cannot be canceled or added [to it]. 16) The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He does not say: “and to the seeds,” as if about many, but as if about one: “and to your seed” (Gen. 12:7), which is Christ. 17) This I say: the law, which came into being after four hundred and thirty years, does not abrogate the covenant previously established by God, so that the promise loses its validity. 18) For if the inheritance is by the law, it is no longer by promise. God gave it to Abraham according to promise. 19) What is the Law for?
For the sake of transgressions it was decreed, and until the Seed which is promised comes, it is decreed through the Angels into the hand of a mediator. 20) There is no mediator with one, but God is one. 21) So, the Law is contrary to the promises of God? It won't happen! For if the Law had been given, which could give life, righteousness would indeed have come from the Law. 22) But the Scripture has concluded all under sin, so that the promise of faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. 23) Before faith came, we were under the guard of the Law, imprisoned in faith, to which we had to be revealed. 24) So, the law was for us a guide to Christ, so that by faith we might be justified. 25) And when faith came, we are no longer under [the guidance of] a schoolmaster. 26) For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27) For all of you who were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28) There is neither Jew nor Greek; there is neither slave nor free; there is no man, no woman. For you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29) If you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, heirs according to the promise.
1) I say: at the time when the heir is a baby, he is no different from a slave, although he is the master of everything: 2) but he is subordinate to trustees and stewards until the time appointed by the father. 3) So we, when we were little ones, were enslaved to the elements of the world. 4) And when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under the law, 5) to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption as sons. 6) And because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying: “Abba, Father!” 7) So, he is no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, [then] an heir through God. 8) But then, not knowing God, you served those who by nature are not gods. 9) Now that you have come to know God, of course, known by God, how do you return again to the weak and miserable elements, which you again want to serve? 10) You keep the days, and the months, and the seasons, and the years! 11) I am afraid for you, no matter how uselessly I worked for you. 12) Be like me, for I am like you; brothers, I beg you! You didn't offend me in any way.
13) You know that, [although] I preached the gospel to you not so long ago in the weakness of the flesh, and you did not turn away from your temptation in my flesh 14) and did not spit, but received me as an Angel of God, [and] as Christ Jesus. 15) So, where is your bliss? For I will testify to you that if it had been possible, you would have plucked out your eyes and given them to me. 16) So, have I really become your enemy by telling you the truth? 17) They are jealous of you in a bad way, but they want to excommunicate you so that you will be jealous of them. 18) It is good to be jealous of good things always, and not only when I am present with you. 19) My little children, whom I give birth to again in pain, until Christ is portrayed in you! 20) I would like to be with you soon and change my voice, because I am ashamed of you. 21) Tell me, you who want to be under the law: have you not read the law? 22) For it is written: “For Abraham had two sons, one by a bondwoman, and the other by a freewoman” (cf. Gen. 16:15, 21:3). 23) But he who is of a slave is born according to the flesh; which is from the free, according to the promise. 24) What [words] were said allegorically. For these are two covenants.
Namely, one on Mount Sinai, giving birth to slavery, which is Hagar, 25) for Sinai is a mountain in Arabia, which is connected with what is now Jerusalem, and he is in slavery with his children. 26) The same Jerusalem, which is above, is free, it is also our mother. 27) For it is written: “Rejoice, O barren woman, who has not given birth; shout and shout, you who did not suffer from childbirth; for she who is abandoned has many more children than she who has a husband” (Isa. 54:1). 28) We, brothers, are the children of the promise according to Isaac. 29) But just as then he who was born according to the flesh persecuted [those born] according to the spirit, so it is now. 30) But what does Scripture say? “Cast out the slave and her son, for the son of the slave will not be heir with the son of the free woman” (Gen. 21:10). 31) So, brethren, we are not the children of slaves, but of those who are free: by what freedom Christ has set us free.
1) Stand, and do not be subjected again to the yoke of slavery. 2) Behold, I, Paul, say to you: for if you are circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing. 3) I testify again to every man who is circumcised, that he must do the whole Law. 4) You are desolate without Christ - [those] who justify themselves by the Law, you have fallen from grace. 5) For in the Spirit we wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. 6) For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision has any power, nor uncircumcision, but faith working through love. 7) You were going well; who hindered you from obeying the truth? 8) This suggestion is not from Him who calls you. 9) A small starter spoils the entire dough. 10) I trust in you in the Lord that you will not think otherwise; but he who troubles you will bear judgment [judicium], whoever he may be. 11) And I, brothers, if I still preach circumcision, why do I suffer persecution? Then the temptation of the cross would be eliminated. 12) Oh, that those who trouble you would be cut off!
13) For you are called to freedom, brethren, only if your freedom is not an occasion for [pleasing] the flesh, but through the love of the Spirit serve one another. 14) For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Lev. 19:18). 15) If you bite and eat each other, beware lest you be destroyed by each other. 16) I say, walk in the Spirit, and you will not commit the lusts of the flesh, 17) for the flesh lusts against the spirit, and the spirit against the flesh: for these are opposed to each other, so that you do not do what you want. 18) If you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law. 19) But the works of the flesh are obvious; which are: fornication, uncleanness, shamelessness, debauchery, 20) idolatry, sorcery, enmity, quarrels, jealousy, anger, opposition, disagreements, heresies, 21) envy, murder, drunkenness, feasting and the like; which I tell you in advance, as I said before, that those who do this will not inherit the Kingdom of God. 22) The fruit of the Spirit is: love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, long-suffering, 23) meekness, faith, modesty, moderation, purity. There is no law against them.
24) Those who are Christ’s have crucified their flesh with vices and lusts. 25) If we live by the Spirit, we must walk in the Spirit. 26) Let us not hunger for vain glory, inciting each other, envying each other.
1) Brothers! And if a person is overcome by some offense, you, being spiritual, instruct him in the spirit of meekness. Watch yourself, lest you be tempted. 2) Bear one another’s burdens, and thus fulfill the law of Christ. 3) For anyone who thinks he is something when he is nothing deceives himself. 4) Let each one test his own work, and so he will have praise only in himself, and not in another, 5) for each one will bear his own burden. 6) Let everyone who hears the word share every good thing with the one who instructs him. 7) Make no mistake: God is not someone to mock. 8) For whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption; Whoever sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. 9) Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap without fainting. 10) So, as long as we have time, let us do good to everyone, especially to our own family according to the faith. 11) Look in what [large] letters I wrote to you with my own hand.
12) All those who, according to the flesh, want to make a good impression, these are trying to force you to be circumcised, just so as not to endure persecution for the cross of Christ. 13) For even those who are circumcised do not keep the law, but want to circumcise you so that they can boast in your flesh. 14) Let me not boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. 15) For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision has any effect, nor uncircumcision, but is a new creation. 16) And to all those who follow this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God. 17) As for the rest, let no one burden me, for I bear the stripes of the Lord Jesus on my body. 18) The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers. Amen.
