1) Paul and Timothy, servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, with bishops and deacons. 2) Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 3) I thank my God whenever I remember you, 4) always in all my prayers for all of you, praying with joy, 5) for your participation in the gospel of Christ from the first day, even until now. 6) Trusting this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus. 7) How righteous it is for me to think about all of you, since I have you both in my heart and in my bonds, and in the defense and establishment of the gospel; you are all partakers of my joy. 8) For God is my witness, how I long for you all in the bosom of Jesus Christ [in visceribus Jesu Christi]. 9) And I pray that your love may increase more and more in knowledge and every feeling, 10) that you may experience the best, that you may be sincere and blameless in the day of Christ, 11) filled with the fruit of righteousness, through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
12) I desire, brethren, that you should know that my circumstances contributed to the greater success of the gospel, 13) so that my bonds became known [as bonds] in Christ throughout the Praetorium and in all other [places], 14) and many of the brothers in the Lord, supported in their hope by my bonds, with greater boldness dared to fearlessly proclaim the word of God. 15) Some, it is true, out of envy and strife, some preach Christ out of their own free will. 16) Some out of love, knowing that I am placed in defense of the gospel. 17) Some, however, out of selfish strife, proclaim Christ insincerely, thinking to increase the pressure of my bonds. 18) So what? When in every way, whether by chance [cunning] or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in this I rejoice and rejoice. 19) For I know that this will serve me for salvation through your prayer and the gift of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, 20) according to my hope and hope, for I will not be put to shame in anything, but with all confidence, as always, even now Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or death. 21) For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
22) If I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my work, then I don’t know what to choose. 23) I am constrained on both sides: I have a desire to be resolved and be with Christ, this is much better; 24) It is more necessary for you to remain in the flesh. 25) And this, being firmly convinced, I know that I will remain and abide with you all for the sake of your progress and joy in faith, 26) so that your joy in Christ Jesus may increase through me, when I come again to you. 27) Only act worthy of the gospel of Christ; so that I, either when I come and see you, or when I am absent, hear about you, how you stand in one spirit with one accord, cooperating for the sake of the faith of the Gospel; 28) and do not in any way be intimidated by your opponents: for [this] is the cause of destruction for them, but for you salvation; and this is from God, 29) for it has been given to you for Christ’s sake, not only to believe in Him, but also to endure passions for Him. 30) For you are waging the same battle that you saw me waging, and which you now hear about me [still waging].
1) So, if [there is] any consolation in Christ, if [there is] any joy of love, if [there is] any spiritual community, if [there is] any kindness of mercy, 2) complement my joy, let you philosophize in the same way; having the same love, be unanimous, thinking identically; 3) do nothing out of selfish ambition and vanity, but out of humility, considering each other superior to yourself. 4) Everyone should not care about his own [only benefit], but also about the [benefits] of others. 5) For feel this in you as also in Christ Jesus: 6) Who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God; 7) but he emptied himself, taking on the form of a servant, becoming in human likeness and being found in appearance as a man; 8) humbled Himself, becoming obedient even to the point of death, death on the cross. 9) For this reason God also highly exalted Him, and gave Him the name that is above every name, 10) so that in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11) and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
12) Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence, but much more now, during my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling. 13) For God is at work in you, both to will and to do [yours], according to his own free will. 14) Do everything without murmuring or hesitation, 15) so that you may be blameless and simple children of God, blameless in the midst of a perverted and corrupt people, in whom you shine as lights in the world, 16) holding the word of life, to my glory in the day of Christ, that I did not run in vain and did not labor in vain. 17) And even if I sacrifice myself to serve your faith, I rejoice and rejoice with all of you. 18) In the same way, you also rejoice and rejoice with me. 19) I hope, in the Lord Jesus, to send Timothy to you soon, so that I too may be in good spirits when I hear about your circumstances. 20) For I have no one so unanimous [with me] who would care for you with such sincere ardor, 21) for everyone seeks their own, and not what belongs to Jesus Christ.
22) Know his experience (Timothy), for he, like a son to his father, served with me in the gospel. 23) So, I hope to send him as soon as I see that he is next to me. 24) I hope in the Lord that I myself will come to you soon. 25) However, I considered it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother and co-worker and companion, your apostle / messenger / and minister in my need, 26) because he, for his part, strongly desired [to see] all of you and was upset because you heard about his illness. 27) For he was sick and even dying; but God had mercy on him, and not only on him, but also on me, so that sorrow would not be added to my sorrow. 28) Therefore, I sent him as quickly as possible, so that when you see him again, you will rejoice, and I would be carefree. 29) Receive him with all joy in the Lord, and have such respect in him, 30) because for the cause of Christ he was even close to death, endangering his life in order to make up for the lack of your services to me.
1) However, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord. For my part, I am not too lazy to write you the same thing; you need it. 2) Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of cutting. 3) For we are the circumcision, serving God in the spirit and boasting in Christ Jesus, and putting our trust not in the flesh, 4) although I might have hope in the flesh. If anyone else thinks to trust in the flesh, how much more do I, 5) circumcised on the eighth day, from the family of Israel, from the tribe of Benjamin, a Jew of the Jews, by the law a Pharisee, 6) by zeal a persecutor of the Church of God, by the righteousness contained in the Law, blameless. 7) But what was a gain for me, for the sake of Christ I counted a loss.
8) Yes, and I count all things as loss for the sake of the excellent knowledge of Jesus Christ my Lord: for whose sake I counted all things as loss, and count them as dung, so that I might gain Christ 9) and be found in Him, not having my righteousness, which is from the Law, but with that which is from the faith of Christ Jesus, which is from God - the righteousness of faith; 10) to know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and communion with His passion, being conformed to His death; 11) whether I too will somehow achieve the resurrection from the dead; 12) not that I have already achieved, or was already perfect; but I follow, lest I attain, as I myself was attained by Christ Jesus. 13) Brethren, I do not consider myself to have attained. But only, forgetting exactly what is behind, and stretching myself to what is in front, 14) I follow to the finish line, to the prize of the upward calling of God in Christ Jesus. 15) So, whoever of us is perfect, let us philosophize; if you think differently about anything, God will reveal this to you. 16) However, as far as we have reached, let us philosophize; and let us abide in the same rule. 17) Be all my imitators, brothers, and look to those who walk according to the example you have in us.
18) For many, about whom I have often told you, and now even speak with tears, act as enemies of the cross of Christ. 19) Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and their glory is in their shame; who philosophize earthly things. 20) Our walk is in heaven, from where we wait for the Savior, our Lord Jesus Christ, 21) Who will transform the body of our humiliation, conforming it to the body of His clear glory, according to the action by which He can even subdue all things to Himself.
1) So, my beloved and most desired brethren, my joy and my crown, stand thus in the Lord, beloved. 2) I beseech Euodia and Syntyche to think the same in the Lord. 3) So, I ask you, a true companion, help them, they labored together with me in the gospel and with Clement and with my other helpers, whose names are in the book of life. 4) Rejoice in the Lord always; I say again: rejoice. 5) Let your modesty be known to all people. The Lord is near. 6) Do not be anxious, but in every prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made clear before God. 7) And the peace of God, which surpasses all feeling, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8) Regarding the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is modest, whatever is just, whatever is holy, whatever is lovely, whatever is reputed, whatever virtue, whatever praiseworthy discipline, think about these things. 9) What you have learned, and accepted, and heard, and seen in me, do these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
10) I was extremely happy in the Lord that now you have finally begun to flourish again in your feelings for me, as you felt. But you were busy. 11) I am not saying this because I seem to be in need, for I have learned to be content with what I have. 12) I know how to humble myself, and I know how to abound (I learned everywhere and in everything): to be filled, and to hunger, and to abound, and to endure deprivation. 13) I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. 14) However, you did well by taking part in my misfortune. 15) You also know, Philippians, that at the beginning of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, not a single church helped me with alms and acceptance, except you alone; 16) for you sent me to Thessalonica once or twice for my needs. 17) It’s not that I was looking for alms; but I seek fruit that will increase your gain. 18) I have everything and have abundance; I am filled /full with me/, [as] I received from Epaphroditus what you sent - a sweet fragrance, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. 19) Now my God will grant you every desire according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. 20) Glory to our God and Father forever and ever! Amen.
21) Greet every saint in Christ Jesus. 22) The brothers who are with me greet you. All the saints greet you, especially those from Caesar’s house. 23) The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
