Let us sing to Thomaida - the all-honorable lamb of Jesus, the great praise of chastity for wives! This woman, being possessed by the fear of God and burning with the desire for chastity, preferred to be killed with a sword rather than submit to the fornication of her father-in-law, considering it abominable to defile her husband’s bed and destroy her soul and her father-in-law. Her praise is superior to Susanna's; for she was naked and washed in the garden, where the (seduced) elders saw her, and this one did not in any way serve as a cause of stumbling for her father-in-law, but in everything she turned out to be innocent: both in appearance and in her inner disposition, she appeared blameless and faithful to Christ and her husband. As much as the moon is brighter than the stars, so this greatest luminary of the sun, Saint Thomais, received greater glory in comparison with Susanna and with the chaste Joseph himself.
