One sheep runs into your fence, about which we wrote to you, T. U-na: feed her soul with the rich pasture of your spiritual teaching and maternal love. And her sister N. is escorting her to you. Your sisters will leave us soon. But let me reproach you for letting go a lot; right, they don’t get any benefit, and maybe they leave with an insult: there are so many people, there’s no time to take care of them. Although I gave my word to you no longer to bother about those wishing to enter your monastery, can I forbid the title of God? This venerable girl, D.D., has had a disposition towards monastic life for three years, now, having received permission from her parents, she asks me to write to you about her; I, having no reason to refuse her request, write to you and leave it to your discretion to accept her under your maternal protection: but I don’t dare ask for this, having given my word. One must be amazed at God’s mercy that He also calls such people who are educated according to this age, live in secular pleasure, and, perhaps, hear unfavorable convictions about our calling. But after all this, they leave the world with its pleasures and enter the path of the life of the cross. It is fitting to say here the words of the Savior: it is fitting that you rejoice, because your brother was dead and is alive (Luke 15:32). Father L. and I are sure that you and your sisters will rejoice at the coming of this lamb into the fence of your verbal sheep, and will try to shepherd her into the green pasture of the teachings of Christ.
