Nota bene to my polemic with Professor N. N. Glubokovsky

At the conclusion of his polemical article against me, Prof. N. N. Glubokovsky did not hesitate to involve in the midst of his abusive words the name of the late Professor A. S. Pavlov, which is high in science and very dear to me personally, and thereby caused severe grief to both me and him (Bog. Vest. February 1908, 399 pp.). I had a clash with the late A.S. Pavlov in the early stages of my academic service and scientific activity; and then we were bound by friendship and deep mutual respect until his death. I dedicated my publishing work (together with Prof. A. S. Khakhanov) of the Georgian penitential nomocanon to the memory of the late A. S. Pavlov, and with this publication I fulfilled one of his learned behests, which he personally entrusted to me. Post scriptum Editorial. The question of the abrupt ending of the last polemical article by Prof. N.N. Glubokovsky, who caused this note by Prof. N.A. Zaozersky, has its own history. Indeed, the stern review of the famous late canonist was in the article by N.N. Glubokovsky, and the latter, initially, even insisted on its inclusion. But then, under the influence of the editors’ suggestions, the author agreed, first, only to shorten this review, and then to publish it in its entirety. The concessions were made partially, over a fairly significant period. And although appropriate orders were made about them in a timely manner, due to an extremely regrettable oversight, they did not reach their destination. As a result, contrary to the wishes of the editors of the author of the article, its abrupt end was published. Apologizing to all interested parties for their annoying oversight, the editors find some consolation in the thought that, strictly speaking, it even served to the benefit of both polemicists. Prof. He gave N.N. Glubokovsky an opportunity to testify in a letter to the editor that “in the interests of business and peace, he sincerely wanted to publish this small passage,” which he asked to bring to the attention of his adviser. And prof. This accidental incident gave N.A. Zaozersky a reason to present his mutual relations with A.S. Pavlov in the proper light and thereby, once and for all, stop the possibility of such references to him. R. R. S. Taking advantage of this opportunity, we hurry, at the request of prof. N.N. Glubokovsky, to clarify the typos that crept into his last article, published in No. 2 “Bogoslovsk. Vestnik” for 1908. On page 396, page 18 at the bottom it says “clearly”, but it should be “explicitly”. On the same page, line 4-5 below is printed “prescribed”, but it should be “prescribed”.
