72. К епископу Люцию

Although we are separated from your reverence by a long distance, we nevertheless know your alienation from evil and the sorrow that people who have committed so many iniquities and filled the universe with so many temptations have aroused in your soul. We therefore testify to you our gratitude and will never cease to glorify and please you for the fact that, despite such an onslaught of evil, when so many blindly rush towards rocks and cliffs, you continue to walk the straight path, condemning what happened and turning away from those who committed it, as you should. But at the same time, we ask you to remain firm in this good determination and show even greater zeal. You know how great your reward will be, how brilliant your crowns and rewards will be for you because, when so many are causing confusion, you go opposite and thus successfully contribute to the correction of existing evil. There is no doubt that if you decide to stand firm, then, although you are a minority in number, you will overcome the majority, which exalts itself in malice. There is nothing stronger than virtue and the desire to contribute to the protection of the Church. Having thus chosen a decision that can attract God’s high favor to you, try to fulfill your duty to the end, becoming by your steadfastness the strongest fence of all the churches of the universe.
