But I learned all this not from your letters - which was very regrettable - but from the outside and from others. Of course, we are already glad that you got rid of the disease. But just because we are happy about this, it does not at all follow that we meekly endure your long silence in such circumstances. We wanted, as you know, for you to come here. And indeed, if the disease had not stopped, there would have been no obstacle. Winter here is still like the most pleasant spring; Armenia got rid of the Isaurians. Of course, we are not forcing you, we are not forcing you to come here against your will. But, which neither the fear of the Isaurians, nor the severity of winter, nor the tedium of the road, nor anything decisively can prevent, we ask you with ardent and sincere affection for us, that is, to write to us constantly. If we had the good fortune to constantly receive letters from you with pleasant news about your health and complacency, then this would bring us considerable reinforcement here. Think about how you will please us with joy in this way, and don’t put it to the trouble of doing it.
