You refer to many cases and from here derive an excuse for why you did not come to us; but it seems to me that you don’t have the slightest need to resort to apologies. You came to us, and, as far as our love is concerned, you did not lose anything in this regard compared to other visitors, because we judge, paying attention to the disposition of the will, and therefore giving you the same honor as they do, we consider you among the first of our friends and thank you for the fact that, after spending a little time with us, or even less than a little, you turned out to love us as much as the people who lived with us for a long time. We deeply thank you for this and ask you to constantly write to us. We would like to see you here in person; but, so as not to be unfair to the many people who need your help and your advice, and not to deprive them of such a saving haven, we do not dare to forcefully call you here. In return, we ask you, as far as possible, to constantly write to us and please us with news about your health. Receiving this kind of news from your measure, we, even being far from you, will draw from them a lot of consolation for ourselves.
