It would be nice for me, without writing first to your regularity, to receive a letter from you: this would be an undoubted sign of your most ardent love for us; but we did not wait for your letter and now we are the first to write to you, at least wanting to show by this the ardent love that we have for you. However, we thank you for this too; I am sure that you allowed this not due to lack of attention to us, but due to your extreme modesty. Now do not be shy in expressing your love for us: write as often as possible and notify us about your health. Receiving letters of this kind, we will derive great consolation from these testimonies of your love for us, even if we were sent to the very ends of the world, to a country even more desolate than this.
