I expected from your honesty to receive a letter informing me about your health. You know how we have always been disposed to your reverence, most honorable lord. But since, perhaps, the lack of opportunity to send a letter has deprived you of any opportunity to do this, then we, having met people going to your reverence, are the first to address the letter to your honesty and earnestly ask you to write to us constantly, as soon as possible, and notify us about your health. We live in the most desolate place, the most desolate of which there is nothing in our entire universe; we are constantly under siege from fear from robbers and endure many sorrows, as is natural on a foreign side and in such a desert; with all that, if from you, from everyone who loves us so dearly, we often receive letters notifying us about your health, then despite all our bitter circumstances, we will find great consolation in them. You know the power of love; you know that not only the personal presence of kind people, but also a letter from them brings great reinforcement. Knowing this, reward us with this joy by notifying us more often about your health, about which it is especially desirable for us to have information.
