What is this? When we were there, you were endlessly zealous for us, both in word and deed, to the whole city, or, better to say, to the whole world, you became known for your affection for us and did not hide it, but on the contrary, on every occasion you showed it both in deeds and in words; Now I haven’t decided to write to us even once, and this is when we especially crave your messages and are waiting for your letters! I say this not to condemn you (I know that whether you write or remain silent, you equally maintain a lively disposition towards us), but out of an impatient desire for your messages. True, although you do not write, we nevertheless always know about your prosperity and complacency, asking those who come from there, and we are very glad that we constantly hear pleasant news; but we would like to receive this information from your words and from your own hand. If our request is not difficult or difficult, then at least do us this favor, which we will accept as an obligatory and most pleasant favor, with the greatest pleasure.
