We write little and rarely to your love; but this long silence did not happen out of our good will and not out of disdain for your love, but due to the desolation of the place in which we are imprisoned. Having now found the opportunity to write with my lord, the most honest and reverent presbyter, we send your honesty a long-due greeting and testify to our great gratitude to your reverence for the unyielding perseverance and courage shown by you in church affairs. Receive our envoy, my most honorable master, worthy of yourself, show him the favor due to you and do not cease to use all measures and means that contribute to the restoration of the general well-being of the churches. You know how high the significance of this great work is, how great the number of churches for which you have undertaken this good deed, and what crowns the philanthropic God has prepared for you for your labors for general pacification.
