1. Abba Heraclius said: “A certain elder lived in an idol church. Demons came to him, saying: “Get out of our place.” The elder answered: “You have no place.” Demons began to scatter its branches; the elder patiently collected them. After this, the demon took him by the hand and dragged him out of the church. When he dragged the elder to the door, the elder rested his other hand on the door and exclaimed: “Jesus! help me! The demon immediately ran away, and the old man began to cry. The Lord said to him: “Why are you crying?” The elder answered: “I cry because demons dare to possess a person and do this to him.” The Lord told him: “You were careless.
