By the grace of God and his most pure Mother, our Lady Theotokos, and by the election of the Holy Spirit, I humble Gennady, Bishop of Tver, received ordination from my ever-memorable lord and father Jonah, Metropolitan of All Rus', by the election of the God-loving archbishops and bishops of the Russian metropolis, and confessed before God and before his holy angels, at that appointment, and I gave my promise to my lord and father Jonah, Metropolitan of All Rus', before my brethren, before the God-loving archbishop and bishops of the Russian metropolis, that I from my lord and father, from Jonah, Metropolitan of All Rus', would not retreat from him and obey him and look to him in everything. And what about that former accursed apostate from the piety of our Christian Orthodox faith, the evil Isidore, formerly the Russian Metropolitan, and his disciple and like-minded person, now a libertine to the Church of God, who came from Rome, Gregory excommunicated from the holy cathedral church, who calls himself to be the Metropolitan of Kyiv, and all his like-minded people: and to me, Bishop Gennady of Tver I will not approach them, I will not accept any letters from them, I will not have any advice from them, but I will follow everything and obey my most sacred lord and father Theodosius, Metropolitan of All Rus', who was appointed metropolitan by the election of the grace of the Holy Spirit, according to the divine and sacred rules of the holy Apostles and holy Fathers, in the cathedral church of the Most Pure Theotokos on Moscow, at the tomb of the holy wonderworker Peter, Russian Metropolitan, and I must not deviate from him in any matter and obey him in everything; or whoever, according to him, another metropolitan will be placed on that great throne of the Russian metropolitanate in the cathedral church of the Most Pure Theotokos in Moscow, at the tomb of the holy wonderworker Peter the Metropolitan, and from that I also will not give up and obey him in everything; If I transgress what is written here, I will be stripped of my dignity.
