What are you, sons, sent to me your petition and letter, informing about the priestly rank and other things that you did something inappropriate, through the rules of the Holy Fathers, that the priest gave gifts to another 2366, and that person was not his spiritual son; and before that, he says that another priest repented of that man and gave him gifts: and you, sons, send that priest who gave gifts to others to me, and then do not order him to sing with you. And I heard from you that abbots, or priests, or deacons come to you from other countries, from the Russian land, or from the Lithuanian land, that some of you previously went to be appointed priests or deacons to Rus' or to the Lithuanian land; and I bless you my children, and I write about this to the elders of the cathedral and to the entire priestly rank: those abbots, or priests, or deacons, even if they have a letter of authorization and 2367 release purely 2368; and you, sons, are aware of this, search and see that there is no outrage, and you command him to accept his spiritual father, and he will confess; and if his spiritual father entrusts you with him, according to spiritual confession, and let him celebrate the Divine Liturgy, according to the rules of the Holy Fathers; or whoever does not have a letter of release and appointment, or a spiritual father, and you do not accept him to yourselves. And in advance, sons, you should look at things that happen that are not like yourselves and save them, so that there is no dissimilar act in you, but stand before God in every possible way and teach your children the Orthodox Christian faith, according to the commandments of the Holy Fathers, to distance yourself from all evil wisdom, and to draw closer to chastity and good morals; and sing prayers for Orthodox Christians, for all the fulfillment of Christ, for all living blas; and act about everything sacred, even about the Lord, according to the rules of the Holy Fathers. And I pray to God, who loves mankind, and to His Most Pure Mother, that He may strengthen you in all good faith and purity and in all good deeds. And my prayer and blessing be with you all; and I bless you and my children. And a charter was given in Veliky Novgorod, in the summer of 6934, and an indictment in the 4th.
