The Greek original of the same exact letter, simultaneously sent to Novgorod, was published by Miklosic and Müller in Acta Patriarchatus Constantinopolitani, t. II, p. 31–34. The Slavic translation was published in Act. Histor. vol. I, No. 4, according to the list of the 16th century, in the collection of the Synodal. librarian No. 562, l. 326 rev.–330. For this publication, the list found in a 16th-century chronograph was taken. same library No. 280, l. 434–435. Here the letter is entitled: “Message of the Right Reverend Philo (fairy patri) Arch of Tsaryagrad about protorekh at the appointments” (placed in brackets, added by the same hand in the margin at the top of the text). Discrepancies in the list published in the Act. Historical, designated by the letter A. This is his disposition always: when he is unable to take action in reality, he implicitly gives light to those who think from the right hand. 1180 Thus, you introduced all heresy into the Church of Christ. However, after the full coming of Christ, all idolatry was lost, and there was no place for the devil to subjugate other people to idolatry, moving from the right hand to take 1181; for it is impossible to deceive, but many worship the gods who call the Son of God the creation. Such and other heresies were introduced, from the gums acquiring polytheism. 1182 And now it is visible in you that it is happening in you, so that little by little they will leave 1183 and from Christianity and the church priesthood, even 1184 the saints and priests give to people, without which it is not powerful to have any hope of salvation 1185, even if an angel lives on earth 1186, and this false praise sows in us and makes us believe, as if it were God’s commission for the church to create. And who is the evil demon who deceives them so much that they accept such a thing? For the Catholic Apostolic Church of God, abiding from end to end of the earth, by the grace and power of Christ our God Himself is immovably strengthened in orthodoxy; and such in the sacred canons is known the presence and structure of those who supply the bribe, as selling 1187 the inexorable grace of the All-Holy Spirit, we consider with Simon and Macedon and with others with the Doukhobors. 1188 In every way the Church of Christ always philosophizes in this way; Because some people are acting in this wickedness and daring to supply for a reward, there are no such things, there are no cathedral churches. For this reason, for the sake of the ambassador, our humility and the great council of the God-loving apxbishop of Suzdal Dionysius, an honest and pious and virtuous man, and the famous keeper of the sacred canons, may you see from us and bless, and teach, and punish, and notify, and the like will organize and unite the cathedral apostolic church of God 1211, so that you will know, as if separated from church, that very Christ God is excommunicated. They will have no part in either the seventh century or the future. Which church are you coming to? Nor does 1212 the Latin Church contain anything other than the apostolic and patristic faith, just as others fall into the darkness of epecies, and so and this, [e]here 1213 according to the reward of the 1214 order, there also this happens 1215: truly the pope sells to the church.
