Память преподобного Стефана

The Monk Stefan of Hinolacca shone with his holy life in Palestine. From his youth, striving for an ascetic life, he often visited the monasteries of pious men located along the Jordan, as well as the monasteries of the saints located in the desert, not far from Jerusalem: Euthymius the Great, Savvas the Sanctified and Theodosius the Great; In each monastery the saint labored, becoming familiar with its rules through his own experience. After this, the monk came to Constantinople, under the emperor Leo the Isaurian, and was received by the holy Patriarch Herman; He lived with him for some time, studying the spiritual life and, for his part, being a useful adviser to the saint. Then the Monk Stefan founded the Hinolakkov monastery 595, in which many monks gathered, whom the saint raised in the teachings of the Lord and good instructions and raised to the measure of the age of the fulfillment of Christ. Having lived virtuously on earth and approached the celestials in unceasing prayer, Saint Stephen received a revelation that the hour of his departure to the heavenly abodes was near. After being separated from his body, the Lord received his holy soul through the Angels with glory, since it was filled with purity; Some of the brethren were honored to see this glorious departure of the monk to the mountain villages and told many about it.
