Our reverend father Tikhon was from Little Russia, from the Lithuanian borders, and served there in military service. Unable to bear the violence from the Latins, he moved to the reigning city of Moscow and began to lead a pious life here. Subsequently, out of extreme humility, he distributed his property to the poor, accepted monasticism and settled on the Lukha River 4024. Here he set up a monastery, gathered many disciples and began to labor in fasting and abstinence in a godly manner. Out of his great humility, he did not accept the priesthood until his death. Having learned in advance about his departure to God and instructing his disciples in everything that could serve for their spiritual benefit, the monk reposed in the eternal abode 4025. Many years after the death of the saint, his relics were discovered 4026 and many healings began to take place from them. Subsequently, thanks to the zeal of the believers, an honest monastery was built on the site of the saint’s exploits, which, with the blessing of God, exists to this day. The Lukh River, a left tributary of the Klyazma River, flows through the current Kostroma and Vladimir provinces and originates in Yuryevsky district. The death of St. Tikhon followed on June 16, 1503. The relics of the saint were found incorrupt under Abbot Constantine around 1566, and from that time his memory began to be celebrated.
