In the city of Pruss, located on the borders of Bithynia, Phrygia and Lydia 3817, near Mount Olympia 3818, the bishop was Saint Timothy, who for the purity of his life and holiness received from God the gift of miracles. It happened one day that he killed a huge serpent that had settled in a cave under a cypress tree and was causing great harm to animals and people. The saint killed this serpent by throwing into his mouth the covering with which the consecrated bread (lamb) is covered on the Divine Throne. Another time he healed one king named Arita, who was suffering from a serious illness, so that he was already approaching the gates of death. In the same way, he not only returned a certain queen from death to life, but also turned her from the darkness of idolatry to the light of true faith. In addition, Saint Timothy, by the grace given to him by God, healed various diseases and performed many other miracles by the power of Christ. With his preaching, he enlightened his entire flock and converted many unbelievers to Christ. When Emperor Julian 3819 ascended the Roman throne, who rejected Christ, began to worship idols and instigated a cruel persecution against the Church of God, Saint Timothy began to work with special zeal in preaching the word of God, strengthening the believers and convicting the pagans of their errors. Hearing about the saint, the wicked emperor Julian ordered to take him and bring him to him, and then put him in prison. Many people flocked here to the saint, to whom he preached about Christ the true God. Julian was informed that a Christian bishop, imprisoned, was teaching his faith to people who came to him. Julian then sent him an order - not to teach about the name of Jesus Christ. But Saint Timothy did not listen to the orders of the wicked and lawless king, and without fear he continued to do what was right for him, as a Christian bishop, to teach the people. When Emperor Julian again learned that Saint Timothy fearlessly continued to preach about Christ, he became angry and sent an executioner to cut off the saint’s head in prison 3820. After the blessed death of the holy martyr, the believers took his holy body and buried it with honor. From his tomb many miraculous healings of various diseases were given, to the glory of Christ our God 3821. Bithynia, Phrygia and Lydia are Asia Minor regions. Mount Olympus was located in the northeastern corner of Asia Minor, on the borders of Phrygia, Mysia and Bithynia. Julian the Apostate reigned from 361 to 363. The death of Saint Timothy followed in the second half of the 4th century.
