Our venerable father Theodore was an eunuch from his youth. He left the world, took monasticism and retired to the Jordanian desert. Zealous for pleasing God, he worked hard here, for which he received from God the gift of miracles. One day he had to go to Constantinople. Arriving at the sea, he found a ship ready to sail and boarded it. During the voyage, it happened that the ship lost its way and wandered for a long time, so that all the supplies of drink and food that were on it were exhausted. The sailors and everyone on the ship were perplexed and very depressed. Then the Monk Theodore, raising his hands to heaven, fervently prayed to God, who saves people from troubles. Then he made the sign of the cross over the sea water with prayer and said to the sailors: - Blessed be God! Scoop out as much water as you need. Having drawn it, they tasted it and found that the sea water had turned from bitter to fresh, like river water. After that, all the others filled their vessels with fresh water from the sea and, having glorified God, bowed to the old man to the ground. But the monk said: - Forgive me, my gentlemen! It was not for my sake that this miracle of the omnipotent God happened, but for the sake of you, who grieved due to lack of water. For God, seeing your sorrow and mortal sadness, had mercy on you and changed the salty sea water into sweet river water. Soon after this, through the prayers of the holy elder, the ship quickly reached the pier to which it was heading.
